Water Treatment Solutions

"ARKA I SAN" — advanced chitosan-based solutions for water and wastewater treatment.

How Chitosan Treats Water

Chitosan is one of the most effective natural biopolymers used in water and wastewater treatment. Its positive charge enables it to attract and remove negatively charged contaminants from water.

01

Coagulation

Chitosan neutralizes suspended particles, colloids, and impurities, causing them to aggregate into larger particles.

Removes: Turbidity, fine suspended solids, organic matter.

02

Flocculation

After coagulation, chitosan acts as a flocculant by binding small particles into larger flocs that settle quickly.

Benefits: Faster sedimentation, reduced sludge volume, lower chemical consumption.

03

Heavy Metal Removal

Chitosan contains amino and hydroxyl groups that bind heavy metal ions.

Removes: Lead (Pb), Copper (Cu), Chromium (Cr), Nickel (Ni), Cadmium (Cd).

04

Color Removal

Highly effective in removing dyes and colored compounds from industrial wastewater.

Industries: Textile, dyeing, paper, printing.

05

Oil & Grease Separation

Chitosan helps destabilize oil emulsions, allowing efficient separation of oils and grease.

Applications: Food processing, petrochemical industries, automotive wastewater.

06

Reduction of COD & BOD

Chitosan removes organic pollutants that contribute to Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), improving overall treatment efficiency.

07

Pathogen Reduction

Its natural antimicrobial properties help reduce bacteria, fungi, and some waterborne microorganisms.

08

Sludge Dewatering

Chitosan improves sludge dewatering performance, reducing disposal costs and increasing solid-liquid separation efficiency.

09

Drinking Water Treatment

Used as a natural alternative to synthetic coagulants.

Advantages: Non-toxic, biodegradable, environmentally friendly.

10

Industrial ETP & STP Applications

ETP: Textile, food processing, chemical industry, pharmaceutical wastewater.

STP: Municipal sewage treatment, sludge conditioning, tertiary treatment.
